We have recently been working on a new app & website project that will take full advantage of Apple’s awesome new iBooks Author to add digital publishing into the mix. With iBooks Author we can repurpose the content from the app & website and create a companion book for iPad. We think it’s a great way to market and increase reach of the main product (the iPhone app) and create another potential revenue stream. The iBook will take advantage of the larger form factor of the iPad to give the reader an ‘HD’ experience of the photography, video and text that is included in the iPhone app and allows additional content to be included.

iBooks Author is a great tool, so easy and intuitive to use. Apple made it free so anyone can take advantage of digital publishing. In the same way musicians can sell music without being signed to a major label and app developers can sell apps directly to their customers, iBooks Author allows everyone to sell or give away their content free through iTunes Store. It’s going to be a great sales driver for iPad and there is potential for it to have a big impact in the Education market since you can build movies, audio and interactive tasks into textbooks.
